This week the assembly line was modelled in Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation.
Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation is a software tool used for simulating, modelling, and optimizing manufacturing processes and systems. It enables the creation of digital models of production facilities, including machines, assembly lines, and material handling systems, in order to analyse and optimize their performance. Different production scenarios can be evaluated to: identify bottlenecks, optimize resource utilization, and improve overall efficiency.
The layout show below was created to represent the Festo CP Lab assembly line. It features representations of the six stations and has timings applied to each station and the travel time between stations.

This allows for an accurate simulation to be run utilising the gathered real world data. A brief recording of the simulation running can be seen below:
The following image shows graphs visualising the extent to which the stations are working or idle due to bottlenecks in the system.
